True Confessions

The oh so embarrassing BEFORE:

Clutter begets clutter and this clutter was out of control. So, I rolled up my sleeves and tackled it. Ahhhhh, so much better now. I do need a few more decorative things though :)

Changing it Up

I put all the accessories on the kitchen table and reassigned them 'cause as the sign on my refreshed mantle says, "Change is Good". I am really happy with how it turned out.
Now to deal with the rest of the house - yikes. I haven't found room for everything yet. But the sun is shining so I'm taking the boys to the beach...
everything else will have to wait.
I hope that you are enjoying the July sunshine.

A New Place to Blog

Today was dress-up day around here. When I finally settled on where she should live (after moving the couch, table, & desk to multiple spots), I shopped my house for things to dress her up with. So this is my new place to blog. What do you think?

The Before Pics

I picked this roll top type desk a few years ago at a garage sale. She was reddish brown. I slapped some cream paint and crackle on her and called her done. She was the perfect candidate for my first em-belle-ish project.

Desk Em-belle-ish

Here she is. Didn't this ugly duckling turn into a black beauty?

I found the Pottery Barn inspired door pulls this afternoon and it was love at first sight. I ran home immediately to put the finishing touches on her.
Magnifique :)

This isn't goodbye!

We had a send off party for a dear family who are moving six hours north to start a church. What an exciting time, but a little bittersweet. On the other hand, a different family from far away are moving here and are just moments away from arriving at their new home. Bittersweet for them, but just sweet for us.
As we left the party I declared, "This is not goodbye". Distance doesn't steal friendships or relationships, unless you let it. It changes things, that's for sure. But I'm sticking to it, "This is not goodbye."

Here are the centerpieces that we went with for the par-tay. They were on ivory tablecloths, but I forgot to take my camera this morning. So these after the fact photos will just have to do :)

Celebrating Canada Day @ RMH National Historic Site

"Canadian Boys Rock"
Fur Trader Boat.

Apparently this is how the voyageurs carried 90 lbs each (the boys were carrying empty boxes).

After completing the challenges the boys were officially signed as members of the Hudson Bay Company.
