21 Day Organizing Challenge: Not Beautiful, But Functional

It wasn't pretty.

Toni @ A Bowl Full of Lemons

is challenging us to tackle under our sinks.

Sigh.  

I needed this push to tackle it.

So, I emptied the area out.

Emptied it out and then wiped out those pesky crumbs 

hiding in the back.

I pared down and reorganized a bit.

Then I remembered this little pocket of nastiness.

Double sigh.

Nastiness confirmed.

But not anymore.

Voila!

It ain't pretty,

But it works for me.

Organized & Blogged before 7:15 a.m.

Now I've got to run and make kids' lunches.

21 Day Challenge Day 3

Today's challenge is the tupperware storage area.

I'm gonna take some flack for this... I can just tell.

Before I show you the pictures, 

let me tell you a little story:

Once upon a time 

there was a beautiful princess who lived in a very cold kingdom. 

She had A LOT of 

plastic containers - the cheap kind.

Day after day she crammed and slammed them into cupboards and drawers because

she knew that

some day

she would need that many containers.

Day after day, the beautiful princess became increasingly grumpy.

She thought it was just that she lived in such a cold kingdom.

But after a while the frosty princess's brain thawed out and she diagnosed the source of her grumpiness.  

She exclaimed, "I don't ever want to cook so much that I would need to fill all of these containers." 

That very day she ditched most of the discoloured and mismatched

plastic containers and lived happily ever after 

because  

she never had to wrestle with useless plastic containers again.

OK, now if you are still with me,

I ruthelessly sort my tupperware.

 So, a little rearranging and wiping down the shelves and we have:

 TA DA!

Sigh.  So there it is.  True Story.

The challenge for today is to clean the surface of your desk.

So I tidied and dusted and it took all of 2 minutes,

sooooo I kinda felt like I was cheating. 

I tend to keep this area clean since it is in my main living area

BUT

I tend to stash things in my bedroom

cause guests don't generally go there.

SO

here is the embarrassing before photo:

 Yes, that is a half devoured gingerbread house on the dresser in my bedroom. 

And here it is now.  Phew. 

Yikes... do I really want to post this? 

Anyway,  thanks to Amy for inspiring me to join the challenge.

2011

It's over... officially over. 

All the hustle and bustle of Christmas, New Year's and everything that comes with it

is over.

I'm not as exhausted as I expected to be when I wrote this.

Actually, I'm excited to see what God has for us in 2011.

This is going to be a big year of change for us as a family.

I don't know all the details yet,

but the changes are going to be good.

This morning at church Pastor Lloyd talked to us about

letting go of the past

so that we can embrace our future.

If we choose to "camp"

at our past victories or failures

we can't move on to what God has for us today.

I'm moving on!

May 2011 be the year where your dreams are recognized,

your heart's desire is realized,

 and your hopes are materialized.
